Seymour Family Surname

The Seymour family can currently be traced back to James Seymour (my 3rd grand-father). His son Alexander was born in Sandwich, Canada 14 April 1839 - almost 100 years before my father was born. Joseph John Seymour Sr. 24 September 1938. Sandwich is near Windsor. 

 

There is an old family story about Alexander back in those days. It is rumored he was a twin and his brother passed away at an early age when he fell between a ship and the docks somewhere on Lake Erie. At the age of 19, Alexander came to the US in the year 1858 and setteled in Toledo Ohio. He married Ida Segur of Unity Maine. They had 8 children together, two passed at an early age of 7 and 5 years old of the same year in the summer of 1870. Just twelve days apart of each other. How sad. 

 

Harvey (my grand-father) the seventh child to Alexander and Ida is where my lineage starts. Harvey was was born 15 September 1878 in Toledo, Ohio. Married Louise Raymond of Erie Monroe, Michigan. They had 3 children; Albert (my lineage line), Thurlow and John. Later the family moved to Detroit, Michigan.

 

Albert Raymond Seymour (my grand-father) - see what they did there? Used his mothers maidan name for his middle name) born Toledo, Ohio born 21 April 1899. Married Agnes May Day of Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada. Albert and Agnes had 4 children; Roberta, Elsie, Albert and Joseph. 

 

Joseph is my father, born 24 September 1938 in Dearborn, Michigan. My father married Julia Malenovsky of Harriman, Tennessee. They married and had 5 children. Lisa, Joseph Jr (me), Debra, Jeffery and Thomas.

Seymour Family Tree

The Seymour family book has different layout that most viewers can follow. I created this layout several years ago and have used it in every tree I have researched on. I also used Ancestry.com site so other can review the same family data there as well. I also use web based sites like Facebook to gather several newer headshots as it proves to be an easy way of updating the trees without bother family members for updates. I have noticed that your family history is important to you and selected others, most do not want to be bothered by the details and don't want to be bothered by update requests. So if you are one that doesn't mind, go for you.
